Open Post: Hosted By Rosie, Who Could Be The World’s Oldest Living Cat At 32

According to all those teen magazines I read as a child, hitting their 30s is practically a death sentence. Backaches, and no more going to da club without looking like a meemaw/pa?! Might as well just pass away quietly. However, reality has shown me that rather than fall into a cemetery plot; you can celebrate your thirty decades and continue to live a full, beautiful life. Such is the case with Rosie, who lives in the city of Norwich in England. Rosie just turned 32, making her likely to be the world’s oldest pussy!

Last year, a cat named Flossie got the Guinness World Record for being the World’s Oldest Living Cat at 27. But apparently, Flossie ain’t got shit on Rosie. Rosie has seen it all, from ugly old cargo pants being fashionable in the 90s/00s to cool new cargo pants being fashionable in the 2020s. Rosie and her human Lila Brissett have been together since Eurodance was popular. According to the NY Post, after Rosie’s first family couldn’t keep her anymore, Lila took her in:

The feline’s owner, Lila Brissett, 72, rescued Rosie way back in 1991 and the pair have been enjoying life together ever since.

The doting owner explained that she brought the kitty home just weeks after she was born. Rosie’s first set of owners had quickly discovered that their daughter was allergic, so Brissett stepped in.

“This beautiful thing was handed to me in a cane basket as a kitten in 1991 and the rest is history,” Englishwoman Brissett told South West News Service in an interview on Thursday.

Here are more pics of Rosie, along with a pic of her and Lila:

The two are inseparable. And to celebrate the big day, Lila got the birthday cat a big salmon cake. via UPI:

“She has honked half of the salmon cake already — I expect she will wake up at lunchtime and eat the rest,” Brissett told the Norwich Evening News. “There won’t be any left by lunchtime, don’t you worry.”

Honking up a whole cake? Rosie and I are kindred spirits! The feline is old but not yet Guinness World Book of Records old. Lila has only recently gotten in touch with the organization to certify her ancient cat. The current record holder is a mere 26, which is just a fetus compared to Rosie. We’ll see what happens in this exciting saga but for now, a happy birthday to Rosie!
